Service Ministries

Some of the many benefits of an Episcopal liturgical service are the multiple ways in which lay persons from the congregation contribute to the fullness of the occasion. Saint Julian's is always adding new faces to these important ministries.

If you have an interest in helping with these rewarding ministries please contact Rev. Tabb or anyone you see performing one of these ministries for more information.

Eucharistic Ministers

"The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, the cup of salvation." Eucharistic Ministers are trained to help administer the Sacraments during the eucharistic ceremony, or communion.

Lay Readers

Lay readers usually read from the books of the Old Testament and the Epistles of the New Testament during the primary services, but there are other occasions such as Lessons and Carols and Evensong where Saint Julian's uses lay readers as well.

Acolytes

Saint Julian's has a wonderful history of Acolytes serving from the ranks of its youth. Acolytes play a very important role in the procession, readings, communion and recession of our services. They serve as crucifers who carry the Cross at the head of the processions, or as torch bearers who carry the candles which illuminate the Gospels during the reading. They also work as servers who assist the priest/celebrant with the Sacraments during Holy Communion. We are always on the lookout for more Acolytes as over the years many grow up and move on to college and enter into the world. Some have returned to the church as adults to help as readers or eucharistic ministers.

Ushers

Ushers not only serve as greeters who help people through the doors to find a seat, but also have the privilege of bringing the Sacraments to the altar. They also help with counting the attendance as well as leading the congregation to the altar during Holy Communion.
